Thus, we should remember Krishna. Some slokas and prayers should also be sung. When singing, immediately we become auspicious and transcendental to the infection of material qualities. Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya gave the example to sing at the wake: When lifting the bed, Sarvabhuma Bhattacharya distinctly chanted "Krishna, Krishna". Lord Chaitanya was very pleased to hear him sing the holy name of Krishna. (C. C. Madhya 6.220)

To nullify the age of Kali, in all its activities, while moving, sitting, dreaming, eating, and sleeping, one should recite the name of Krishna, which is the perfection of speech.
Even if a person sings the names of Krishna carelessly, it will certainly reach his svarupa, his original spiritual identity, and reach that stage beyond all fear and lamentation stuff.
If one way or another a person sings the holy name of Krishna, Krishna gets attracted and reveals himself to the singer with causeless mercy. Even if a drunkard, a person taken by ghosts, or who are suffering from diseases simply chants the holy name of Lord Hari, then the release is under your fingertips.

The Hare Krishna Maha-Mantra:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
These three words Hare, Krishna and Rama are not material, they refer to the Supreme Deity and His loving service. Krishna refers to the Supreme Personality of Godhead full of all opulence and Rama glorifies Him as the Source of All Pleasure. Hare is a devotional form of address to God's spiritual power as a humble request to occupy themselves in loving service to God. There is not the slightest need previous qualifications to start this process of chanting the maha-mantra but it is expected that, as the mantra starts to have an effect your purificator, the practitioner is interested in leaving unfavorable activities.
Mantra means "liberation of the mind" and carefully pronouncing this transcendental sound vibration, surely we can get rid of the unwanted motions of our mind.
In the Bhagavad-Gita explains that the mind can be our best friend or our worst enemy. This means that while we are about mind control and their insatiable desires, we will live with our worst enemy. On the other hand, when we get rid of the demands of the mind, filling it in spiritual meditation, our mind will become-controlled and as a result, will be our greatest friend.
We live in a very difficult, quite unfavorable for an introspective meditation. Accustomed our senses and our minds are always busy outside material activities, therefore the scriptures prescribe a dynamic meditation process for this age, the chanting of the maha-mantra. Besides cleansing is extremely nice and has the power to gradually elevate one to transcendental platform.
Meaning & Purpose of Chanting the Maha-Mantra
What is a mantra? In Sanskrit, Man means mind and tra means to free yourself. Thus, mantra is a combination of transcendental sounds freeing our minds from anxiety. The ancient Vedic literature of India recognizes as a mantra maha (supreme) - the maha-mantra.
The Kali-santarasa Upanishad explains that "These sixteen words:
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare
are particularly appropriate to counteract the anxiety of this current era of quarrel. "The transcendental vibration of the sounds they emit by chanting this maha-mantra is the sublime method for reviving our original natural conscience. This corner stemmed from the spiritual platform. By practical experience, we realize that chanting this maha-mantra we feel a transcendental ecstasy that surpasses all lower levels of consciousness, such as the sensual, mental and intellectual levels.
The name Krishna means "all-attractive", the name Rama means "the all-pleasant" and the name Hare is a supplication to the internal energy of the Lord. Therefore, the maha-mantra means "all-attractive Lord and all-pleasing, O energy of the Lord, please accept me in Your devotional service."
Five centuries ago, when diffused the maha-mantra throughout India, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu prayed: ". O Supreme Lord, to Thy name outorgastes you all your transcendental energies"
No other method of spiritual realization is as effective in this age of quarrel and hypocrisy, as this maha-mantra.
Simply chant Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare, we can achieve the liberation and return home, back to Godhead.
Instructions on how to chant japa in
(rosary beads for meditation)
1. Hold the japa in his right hand.
2. Keep japa between the thumb and middle fingers, the first after the main account.
3. Lightly to the following account, as we sing aloud the maha-mantra: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare (pronounce ha-KING, KRISH on and RA-mA).
4. Navigate to the following account and chant the maha-mantra again. Then go to the next and repeat the process, so forth.
5. When you get to the last account before the main (not sung), turn and continue to chant japa, starting with the account you finished the lap (a lap has 108 beads).
6. Sing one or more turns per day, according to their possibilities, but never sing less than the number you determined to sing. Initiated devotees of Hare Krishna chant at least 16 rounds per day.
Although there are no fixed and inflexible rules for chanting Hare Krishna, we present below some tips that can help you in this process:
a. Sing with feeling, as if you were a child calling for its mother's presence.
b. Sing with clarity, listening to every syllable and fixing the mind on the sound of the maha-mantra.
c. Sing without interruptions, like a river flowing to the ocean.
His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is the founder and spiritual master of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and by His grace, the chanting of Hare Krishna spread throughout the world. The study of their books and the association with his disciples greatly facilitate their practice of chanting the maha-mantra.
Haridas, one of the most beloved companions of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu came to this world thirty years before the appearance of Mahaprabhu in Burhan, a village in Khulna district of Bengal in the house of Mohammadan. According to some he was born a Hindu, but was created by Mohammadan Habibulla and his wife, who, attracted by the exotic beauty of the child, embraced with love and affection.
Since very young, the flow of nectar of chanting the holy names is constantly expressed in his heart. Always intoxicated by hari-nama, Haridas renounced any kind of worldly activity, and only eighteen years old, went to the forest Benapol, where he lived in a simple hut absorbed in bhajana. Before the cabin, planted a small bush Haridas tulasi. He woke up early, took his bath, watering tulasi and circumambulava. Then he sat down to chant japa and repeat the maha-mantra three hundred thousand times every day, one hundred thousand singing aloud. In the late afternoon he walked out of the forest and went to a nearby village asking for charity. Attracted by the sweet sound of the kirtan of Haridas, hundreds of devotees went to his cabin to offer you fruit. Haridas cried "Hari bol!" and threw the fruit for the children catch. He also asked them to chant "Hari bol." They exclaimed, "Hari bol" Only because the fruit. Thus Haridas planted in their hearts the seed of hari-nama a very early age, when the heart is fertile and the seed is thrown it germinates easily.
At the time that Haridas, who is considered by Scripture the very embodiment of pure devotion to Lord Vishnu appeared, nobody was interested in spiritual life. Everyone wanted to enjoy the petty material pleasures. Although, at that time, some brahmanas palestrassem on Bhagavad-gita and the Srimad-Bhagavatam, they do not even understand the glories of Lord Krishna properly.
The few that existed devotees sought to gather, clap and chant the holy names of the Lord. However, the non-devotees mocked them saying, "Why do they howl so loud I am Brahman Since I can not be touched by matter, why make the distinction between servant and Lord They howl 'Hari, Hari' only with?.? the pretext of begging and eating. Everybody knows that. "Understanding that this material world is nothing more than an empty desert, the devotees chanted: "O Krishna, please save us" and his misery was endless.
The only religion that people knew was to stay all night singing for the goddess Durga, in exchange for material results. Few, proud, loved the serpent goddess Manasa and others offered part of their wealth to the deities and demigods demigoddesses. Absorbed only in marriages of their children, they spent all their money. Thus, they uselessly wasted all your time in this world. Even the greatest scholars of the time unaware of the meanings of the scriptures as though they taught the scriptures, they were materialists. The rope noose of Yamaraja have rested on their necks and their students. Nobody was discussing Krishna-kirtan, which is the true religion of the era. If they could not mock the lives of others, then they would rather not talk about. Nobody wanted to praise or glorify anyone, due to the extreme pride. Their hearts found endless delight in the waves of lust, anger, greed, envy, illusion and madness. Intensely living the philosophy of "I" and "mine", they wasted their life without inquiring about your true friend, Lord Sri Krishna
In this situation, Haridas descended to this world in the village of Budana. Although he was a liberated soul from the beginning of his birth, he had accepted externally birth of a Muslim family. Because of him the chanting of the holy names of the Lord manifested himself in this fortunate place, making it auspicious.
Haridas was customary to wander the banks of the Ganges and joyfully chanting Hare Krishna aloud. He was the best among those who renounced the material pleasure. His glorious mouth was always filled with the sounds of the holy names of Krishna. Not for a moment, he was able to stop chanting the holy names. At all times he was dipped in pure devotional service, and therefore showed different signs of ecstasy. One moment he danced, he shouted another as a wild lion. One moment he screamed and another he laughed aloud. One moment he bellowed another and he fell unconscious. At another time he produced sounds unknown in this world and in another moment he explained the meanings of these divine sounds. He was crying and the hairs on his body stood on end. He laughed, swooned and perspirava. All transcendental symptoms of pure devotional service manifested in him. When Haridas began to dance, different ecstatic symptoms appeared simultaneously in your body. So streams of bliss flowed throughout his body and by his wonderful body stood erect. Seeing it this way, all the demigods, headed by Lord Shiva, were filled with bliss.
Haridas is Cruelly attacked by Muslims
Seeing the extreme purity of Haridas and influenced by his spiritual power, wherever he went, all developed great faith in him. Completely absorbed in ecstatic love for Krishna, Haridas simply wandering in any direction. Always chanting aloud the holy names of Lord Hari and bathing in the Ganges only, by arrangement of fate, Haridas arrived at a place known as grass-Phuliya
This place was ruled by a demonic Muslim Kazi who, on learning of the spiritual influence of Haridas, became very jealous of him. Unable to tolerate such a situation, the Kazi demon addressed the king of this region describing Haridas. He said, "Though he is Muslim, he acts as a Hindu. You must bring it and make a judgment of it." Hearing the harsh words of the Kazi, the king, who was also sinful, quickly brought Haridas. However, by the mercy of Krishna, the saint Haridas felt no fear of the Muslim king. Chanting "Krishna, Krishna" while walking, Haridas gave the king the right to see it. Hearing that Haridas was coming, pious people who were confined in prison, were both happy as unhappy. Hearing that Haridas was coming, they became internally happy. They thought: "The saint Haridas is a great Vaishnava devotee When we see Him we, all our sufferings will be destroyed.." After begging the guards with sweet words, prisoners were permitted to see him. Upon arriving there, with a merciful glance, Haridas looked all prisoners. Seeing the lotus feet of Haridas all bowed in reverence. Seeing in her unusual beauty the sign of a great devotee, everyone felt great bliss. Haridas's eyes were like lotuses, his face was shining like the moon and his arms reached the knee. In fact, all of its features were lovely. No one could compare to him.
With great devotion, offering obeisance to him, the prisoners showed all the symptoms of bhava, ecstatic love for Krishna. Seeing the advanced level of devotional service of the prisoners, Haridas mercifully smiled at them, uttering the following hidden blessing: "May you always remain as they are now." Not understanding the hidden meaning of these words, the prisoners became a bit unhappy. Then, mercifully, Haridas explained the true meaning of this hidden blessing: "I gave you a blessing but do not understand its meaning, you become unhappy Please think a little more and try to understand it now, their hearts are.. attached to Lord Krishna and you must remain so at all times of their lives. always bring together yourself, sing the names of Krishna and remember Krishna. stay always so. Never hurt anyone. Never cause trouble for anyone. instead addition, always think of Krishna and always with a pleading voice, call loudly, "Krishna, Krishna!". Forget the material pleasures and escape the company of wicked men. If you remain enjoying material pleasures you will not get for love Krishna. Stay away from the materialistic, always thinking of Lord Krishna. A heart attached to the pleasures of the senses only attracts problems. pleasures of the senses are a trap that hold both men and women. They lead a person to his own destruction. By divine arrangement a person receives the association with sincere devotees. Then he turns away from the pleasures of the material senses and worships Lord Krishna. However, if he commits offenses, he will return to his materialistic life. Please pay attention on it as well. The blessing I gave you does not mean, 'May you remain prisoners' but rather, 'May you forget the material pleasures.' Playing with words, actually I gave them this blessing. Please do not feel the slightest misfortune. I cast a look of mercy in their spiritual souls, 'May you achieve steady devotion to Lord Krishna!' - This is a real blessing that I gave them. Please do not worry. In two or three days more you will be released from prison. This I promise to you. Remain in a situation of material happiness or remain in any situation, but do not forget these truths. "
After giving these auspicious teachings to prisoners, Haridas appeared before the king. Seeing his charming way, the very king respectfully offered him a seat. The king asked him, "O my brother, what happened to you What is this change that has occurred in your mind How fortunate you were You were a Muslim, why you left your heart If you act like a Hindu?.!? I see a Hindu rice, I will not eat it. you were born in a big family and now you are rejecting it. How can a person who rejects their religion and accept another, obtain salvation and go to heaven? not considering anything that, you have behaved very badly. Now I will make a judgment that will free you from all your sins. "
Hearing these words of a person confused by Maya, Haridas smiled and thought, "Ha ha ... this is the power of Lord Vishnu Maya!" So, with much sweetness, he replied.. "O my son, please listen there is only one God for all Hindus and Muslims are different in many ways, however, the truth is that the Quran and the Puranas describes the same God. the only God is pure, eternal, indivisible, immutable, perfect and complete. He lives in everyone's heart. Why God instructs internally to different people, they start to act differently. Following his own writing, all persons the world speak the names and qualities of God in his own way. God knows the nature of all. Anyone who attacks another, in fact, is attacking God himself. I have followed the instructions that God has given in my heart. Among Hindus a brahmana may, by God's will, to become a Muslim. Likewise, by divine will a Muslim may become a Hindu. indeed such titles as 'Hindu' or 'Muslim' refer only to material bodies temporary. O honorable person, please consider all this and then if you think I'm guilty, punish me. "
Hear the true words of Haridas, some Muslims were happy but still sinful Kazi said to the king: "He is diverted from our religion and he will divert many other people he will dishonor the Muslims if he did not agree to.. be punished, so he speaks with his own mouth with words that exist in our own scriptures ". Agreeing with this, the king again said, "O my brother, please speak to your own writing then you have nothing to fear if you do otherwise, then the Kazi will punish you..."
Haridas said: "Whatever God wills, will surely happen Nobody has the power to do it any other way Everybody reaps the fruits of his own offenses is God alone who is doing all this Please be assured that.... . If my body is cut into pieces and my life from air, yet I will never allow the holy name of Hari let my tongue. "
Hearing these words, the king said: "What should I do with this animal?" The Kazi replied, Take it and drag it by the twenty-two markets and beat him. Then he will die. I do not give another trial. If even after hitting him in the twenty-two markets he stay alive, then I will accept that he is a holy person and he spoke wise words "Calling the soldiers, he said with much hatred," Hit him until his life ends ! A Muslim who becomes a Hindu be free of their sins only by death. "When the Kazi spoke these words sinful, wicked men came and grabbed Haridas in a terrible way. One of them grabbed him and dragged him from market to market. with wrath in his heart, some pious people cursed the king and his prime minister Other people tried to also fight with some soldiers approached the Muslims, grabbed his feet and begged:.. "I'll give you anything you wish but please stop hitting him "in spite of all this, no mercy arose in the hearts of those sinners.
With great anger in their hearts, they beat continually Haridas. By the mercy of Lord Krishna, however, none of the blows produced minor pain in delicate body of Haridas. Prahlada did not feel at all, no pain when the demons beat him. The scriptures themselves say this. Likewise, Haridas was a spiritual trance and did not feel even the slightest pain when Muslims beat him. This is a wonderful story of Haridas, and remember it, a person will certainly cut your sufferings into pieces! Indeed, when the sinful Muslims beat him, Haridas felt only a single pain in his heart. With great tolerance, he thought: "O Lord Krishna be merciful to these souls Do not allow the hate they feel for me to be considered an offense.".
Thus, the sinful guards beat in Haridas throughout the city. Although he had been heavily attacked, the vital air Haridas remained in the body. Actually, Haridas was not aware that he was being attacked. Muslims were astonished: "When will your life will air from Will he not die Any other died after being beaten in two or three markets We have beaten him in twenty-two markets, and yet,?. he does not die! he just keeps looking and smiling Us. "Another Muslim then spent thinking: "Is he a human being or a great saint?" These doubts arose in their hearts. Then the Muslims said: "Oh, Haridas, because of you we will we die Despite being beat you, you never dies Now the Kazi is what will kill us.". Smiling, the saint Haridas said: "If, by being keeping me alive, I cause so much trouble to you, then I'd rather die You'll see how I'll do it.".
After speaking these words, Haridas entered a trance of meditation. He expressed all mystic powers. He became motionless and not breathing anymore. Seeing this, the Muslims were amazed. They carried him and threw him on the steps of the king's house. "Put his body on earth," the king said, "Then it will get a good destination Actually, he acted so badly that it does not deserve such an end if we put in the ground, then he will go to paradise So... it is better to just throw it in the Ganges and let him suffer for all eternity "However, when trying to load the body of Haridas to throw it in the Ganges, Muslims guards had a surprise. As Haridas was in ecstasy of bliss in meditation, Lord Krishna himself, the sustainer of all the worlds, personally entered within your body. Once Lord Krishna made his own residence in the body of Haridas, who had the power to move you? The strongest man tried to pull him, but he remained motionless like a big pillar. Haridas was immersed in the bliss ocean of nectar of Lord Krishna. Nothing external manifested in him. Haridas was not aware of anything that was on the ground, in the sky or on the river Ganges. As Prahlada, Haridas had the power to absorb in complete meditation on the lotus feet of Lord Krishna. This is not surprising why the Lord Chaitanya always remained at the heart of Haridas. ONLY to teach a great lesson to the world, Haridas allowed to be beaten by Muslims. His lesson was: "Even if a person suffer all calamities, and even that vital air this person is about to leave, that person under any condition should allow the holy name of the Lord depart from your mouth" Mr. Krishna became the protector directly Haridas. So, who had the power to damage it? Haridas simply by remembering a person cuts their sufferings into pieces. And what, then tell him that hears this story? The truth of all truths is that Haridas is a very, very important associate of Lord Chaitanya.
The desire of the Lord, Haridas then decided to allow Muslims to throw in the Ganga. For a few moments, Haridas floated in the Ganges. Then, in a moment, by the desire of the Lord, he became aware of the outside world again. Regaining consciousness, the saint Haridas rose again on the river banks. So again and again, chanting the holy name of Lord Krishna, he returned to town Phuliya. Seeing his wonderful power, Muslims felt great sorrow in their hearts. Crying and conscious now that he was a great saint, all Muslims prostrated themselves before him in reverence. Because of this, they have obtained salvation. After a few moments, Haridas became aware of the outside world and gave a gracious smile to the king. With hands respectfully prostrate, the king humbly said:... "Now I know the truth of all truths you a great saint You are firmly situated in the knowledge of a God Only You easily achieved perfection that all yogis and sages Only scholars can describe. I came here specifically to see him. Gopala Cakravarti said: "If a person does not release for such namabhasa, so I'll cut your nose!" All members of that assembly who heard this foolish challenge, were deeply shaken. Everyone stood up and made a tumultuous sound. Balarama Acharya immediately rebuked the Gopala Cakravarti, "You are merely a foolish logician What do you understand of devotional service to Lord Krishna You insulted Haridas and therefore you are in a very dangerous position you should not expect anything auspicious!?. in your life! ".
So Haridas rose to leave. All members of the assembly, including Hiranya and Govardhana, fell at the feet of Haridas. Haridas is tested by the illusory energy of the Lord

Haridas was saturated with love and devotion to the Lord. Again and again he begged with pleading words. His desire was not satisfied. High birth, noble family, material wealth can not help anyone to achieve unparalleled wealth of love for Lord Krishna. Only the intense desire to get it, and nothing else, will help that person. A Vaishnava may make his birth in any family. Why not? All scriptures declare a Vaishnava is the best among all people. The best evidence of this is the Haridas who himself was born in a Muslim family. He could see the power and opulence of the Lord - something that even Lord Brahma and the demigods could not. Anyone who thinks a Vaishnava belong to any caste is an offender. He will be born life after life in undesirable conditions. Thus, it will suffer. Anyone who hears these prayers Haridas will surely get incomparable wealth of pure love for Krishna. The scriptures say this: anyone who hears the stories of the Lord's devotees get pure devotion to Krishna. Glories, the glories of Haridas! Remembering him, a person destroys all his sins. But even being born naked family low, a devotee of Lord Vishnu should be worshiped. All scriptures say this. If a person born in a noble family does not worship Lord Krishna, which he won with his birth? He will be dragged to hell. So to be living proof of these statements, Haridas took his birth in a poor family. Prahlada Maharaja took birth as a 'devil' and the great Rama-Bhakta Hanuman took birth as a monkey. Afterwards, accompanied by His devotees, Sri Chaitanya took bath in the sea, swimming and enjoying himself in the water with much jubilation. After circumambulating the tomb of Haridas, addressed himself to the Jagannatha temple gate. The whole town sang in unison, and the thunderous sound vibrating inside the city. Approached to the gate of the temple, Sri Chaitanya personally extended his robe and was asking prasadam to all traders present. "I'm asking prasadam in favor of a festival in honor of the disappearance of Haridas," said the Lord, "Please, do your donations." On hearing this, all traders adiantavam immediately with large baskets of prasadam, cheerfully handing them to the Lord Chaitanya. After the final arrangements, the Lord personally made all the devotees to sit in queue and, helped by four devotees distributed to each worshiper a sufficient quantity of prasadam to five men. All were filled with prasadam to the neck, but the Lord kept saying: "Continue giving them Continue giving them!" After all devotees took prasadam and washed their hands and mouths, Sri Chaitanya each decorated with a garland of flowers and anointed with the pulp of sandalwood. Dominated by ecstatic love, Sri Chaitanya gave a blessing to all devotees, who listened with great joy, Mr Chaitanya gave the following blessing: "Everyone who has seen the festival's disappearance Haridas, everyone who has sung and danced here every one who has offered sand to the body of Haridas and everyone who has joined this festival to attend the prasadam will reach very soon the mercy of Krishna. it is confirmed, then, how wonderful is the power to see Haridas. being merciful to me, Krishna gave Me the association of Haridas. Then, addressing himself to all the devotees, Sri Chaitanya said, "Tell everyone 'Jaya Jaya Haridas' and sing Hare Krishna".
Saying this, he even began to dance, while everyone sang: "Haridas Jaya, jaya Haridas All glories to Haridas which revealed the importance of chant the holy names of the Lord!"
Srila Prabhupada CONSIDERATIONS ON THE HOLY NAME OF GOD, THE MAHA-MANTRA HARE KRISHNA IN RELATION TO SCRIPTURE.
In the Padma Purana it is stated: "The chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra is present only on the lips of a person who has for many births worshiped Vasudeva (One who is present at all)." It is further said in the Padma Purana:.. "There is no difference between the holy name of the Lord and the Lord Himself As such, the holy name is as perfect as the Lord Himself in fullness, purity and eternity The holy name is not a vibration sound material, nor has any substantive contamination. "Therefore, a person who has not been able to purify your senses can not chant the holy name harmlessly. In other words, the materialist senses can not properly chant the holy names of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu recommends that all chant the mantra HARE KRISHNA just to clean dust from the heart. If we clean up the dust from the heart, then we can really understand the importance of the holy name. For people who do not feel inclined to clean the dust from their hearts and want to keep things as they are, can not achieve the transcendental result that is achieved with the chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra. Therefore, we should encourage us to develop our attitude of service to the Lord, because this will help us to sing without committing any offense. And so, guided by a spiritual master the disciple is simultaneously trained to provide service while chanting the Hare Krishna mantra. Once we develop our spontaneous service attitude, we can understand the transcendental nature of the holy names of the maha-mantra immediately.
In Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.5, 32) is predicted: "In the age of Kali, the Lord incarnates as a devotee, whose complexion is yellowish and is always singing HARE KRISHNA, HARE KRISHNA, KRISHNA KRISHNA, HARE HARE / HARE RAMA, HARE RAMA, RAMA RAMA, HARE HARE. While someone is within the limited jurisdiction of fruitive activities or mental speculation involved, you may be eligible to study or teach the theoretical knowledge of the Vedanta-sutra (the final knowledge of God), however, can not understand the transcendental vibration (fully released) the Hare Krishna mantra. Serving Him is the only means by which one can be detached from material activities. Practicing Krishna Consciousness at home
The purpose of this paper is to show that it is possible and beneficial to practice Krishna consciousness in your daily life while you live and work outside a temple or ashram. Krsna consciousness is up to you to follow the principles of bhakti-yoga in all its activities. Of course, living in association with devotees makes it easier to practice devotional service, but if you're determined, you can follow the teachings of Lord Krishna and the spiritual master in his house and thus transform it into a temple of Krishna. In fact, if you follow a serious and constant guidance from the spiritual master, after all you will be qualified to take initiation.
The spiritual life, as the material life, means practical activity. The difference is that while practicing material activities for ourselves and those we consider linked to us, spiritual activities are conducted on behalf of Krishna, under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master (guru) and revealed scriptures (shastra). The key to spiritual success is to accept the guidance of the guru and the scriptures. Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita that a person can not achieve happiness nor the supreme destination of life, ie, back to Godhead, back to Lord Krishna, if she does not follow the precepts of scripture. The precepts of the scriptures are translated into practice in service to the Lord for a genuine spiritual master occupations. In fact, the basic principle in spiritual life is to accept the guidance of a spiritual master and follow your instructions as life and soul. The purpose of spiritual knowledge is to bring us closer to God or Krishna. Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita (18:55) that bhaktya mam abhijānāti: "I can be known only by devotional service." Knowledge guides us in action apropriada.O spiritual knowledge guides us in every aspect of our lives, aiming to make each act an act of love and devotion to God, full of transcendental bliss and fulfill the wishes of Krishna through practical occupations in loving service to Him. Without practical application of spiritual knowledge has little validity. Spiritual knowledge is to direct us in all aspects of life. The most basic principle in devotional service is that one should always chant the Hare Krishna mantra:

You can chant the holy names of the Lord in any place and time, but it is best to determine a particular time of day to sing regularly (the hours of dawn are best).
Chanting can be done in two ways: singing properly (in a group, if possible) called kirtan, and individually called japa (which literally means to speak in a low voice). You should concentrate on listening to the mantra. While singing is clearly and distinctly in an attitude of prayer to Krishna, you should pay full attention to hear the mantra. When your mind wanders and you lose concentration, become to bring your attention to the mantra. Singing is a prayer to Krishna means "all-attractive Lord, O energy of the Lord, please occupy me in his service." The more carefully and sincerely you chant these names of God, the more progress spiritually. It must be understood that the names of God and God Himself are identical. This means that when we chant the holy names of Krishna and Rama are partnering with God personally. Establishing your altar
The japa and kirtana are more efficient and enjoyable if done before an altar. Lord Krishna and His pure devotees are so kind that they can receive our worship and devotion through his paintings. You can not send a letter putting them on any box, you must use the mailbox that is authorized by the government. Likewise, we can not imagine a way to God and worship it, but we love the manner authorized or paint the way of God, and Krishna accepts this worship through this framework.
Establish an altar means to receive the Lord and His pure devotees as his most honored guests. Where should you set the altar? Well, where you receive a guest?
The ideal place would be clean, well lit, free from drafts and domestic disturbances. His guest, of course, need a comfortable chair, but to frame the form of Krishna, a shelf of the wall, a mantelpiece, a corner table or the top shelf of a bookcase serve. The first person we worship at the altar is the spiritual master. The spiritual master is the most beloved servant of God. Only God is God. But, because it is the most beloved servant of God, the spiritual master deserves the same respect and honor given to God. It unites the disciple with God, and it explains the process of bhakti-yoga. His position is analogous to that of an ambassador who is treated exactly like the President. Because it was authorized by the president, and because it is authorized, your words and actions have the same weight they would if he were president.

As you progress in bhakti-yoga, you may eventually want to take initiation. Srila Prabhupada, before leaving this world in 1977, authorized a system in which advanced and qualified devotees continue their work initiating disciples according to their instructions. Currently there are many spiritual masters in our society. Ask the temple closer to you how to find them for spiritual guidance and association or else send us an email.
Another painting in its altar is the panca-tattva, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and His associates. Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is the incarnation of God for this age. He is Krishna Himself, who came down in the form of his own devotee to teach us as we yield to Him, specifically through the chanting of His holy names, and by performing other activities of bhakti-yoga. Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is the most merciful incarnation - His mercy is that He became the love of God easily accessible to anyone through the chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra.
And of course your altar should have a picture of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Shri Krishna, with His eternal consort, Srimati Radharani. Srimati Radharani is the spiritual power of Shri Krishna. She is devotional service personified, and devotees always take shelter in Her to learn how to serve Krishna.
You can arrange the tables as follows: the paintings of spiritual masters in front with Srila Prabhupada right for you. The picture of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and His associates can stay in the middle, and the picture of Radha and Krishna, which should be slightly larger than the other, you can get a level a little high, behind, in the center, or can be hung up on the wall.
Every morning you should thoroughly clean the altar. Cleanliness is essential in Deity worship. Remember that you do not fail to clean the room of an important guest in your home. If you have glasses of water, wash them and put them fresh water daily. Put them conveniently near the tables. You should take the flowers as soon as they are slightly wilted if they are in pots, or daily if you offered them, placing them at the base of the frames. You can offer fresh incense at least once a day, and can light candles when you're singing in front of the altar.

Food offered to the Lord with love and devotion
Through his immense transcendental energies, Krishna can actually convert matter into spirit. Likewise, the material substance of the food that is offered to Krishna becomes completely spiritualized. This food is called prasadam, a Sanskrit word that means "mercy" of the Lord.
Eating prasadam is a fundamental practice of bhakti-yoga. In other forms of yoga, one should restrain the senses, but the bhakti-yogi can use the senses in various pleasing spiritual activities. For example, one can use his tongue to taste the delicious food offered to Lord Krishna. Through these activities, the senses gradually become spiritualized and automatically are drawn to divine pleasures far outweigh any material experience.
The Vedic scriptures contain many descriptions of prasadam and its effects. Lord Chaitanya, an incarnation of the Supreme Lord, who appeared in India for 512 years, said of prasadam: "Everyone has tasted these material substances However, these ingredients there are extraordinary tastes and uncommon fragrances Just taste and see the difference experience.. . Besides the taste, even the fragrance pleases the mind and makes one forget any other sweetness. Therefore, it should be understood that the spiritual nectar of Krishna's lips touched these ordinary ingredients and transferred to them all their spiritual qualities. "
Eating only food offered to Krishna is the ultimate perfection of a vegetarian diet. After all, even many animals like pigeons and monkeys are vegetarians, so becoming a vegetarian is not the greatest feat in itself. The Vedas tell us that the purpose of life is to become awaken the original relationship of the soul with God, and only when we go beyond vegetarianism to prasada, the act of eating can help us achieve this goal. In the Bhagavad-gita, Lord Krishna says that one should only eat food offered in sacrifice to Him; otherwise she will be involved in the reactions of karma.
How to prepare and offer prasadam

When shopping, you should know that you can find meat products, fish and eggs mixed with other foods; so be sure to carefully study the labels. For example, some brands of yogurt and cottage cheese contain gelatin, which is made with horns, hooves and bones of dead animals. In addition, many industrial products strawberry flavor contains a natural dye called Cochineal, which is done with a slug of red color of the same name. Careful not to buy cheese that contains rennet, an enzyme extracted from the stomach tissues of calves. Most cheeses contain rennet, so be careful, only buy cheese whose label contains vegetable rennet.
You should also avoid pre-cooked foods for people who are not devotees of Krishna. According to the subtle laws of nature, the cook acts upon the food not only physically but also mentally. So food becomes a means of subtle influences on his conscience. By the same principle, a framework is not only a collection of strokes on a canvas, but it is an expression of the mood of the artist, and this mental content is absorbed by the person looking at the painting. In the preparation of food, cleanliness is the most important principle. Nothing impure should be offered to God, well then keep your kitchen clean. Always thoroughly wash your hands before preparing food. While preparing, do not try the food because you are not cooking just for you but for the pleasure of Krishna, which should be the first to taste it. Arrange in particular portions of the food dishes for this purpose. Nobody but the Lord should eat these dishes. The simplest form of offering is simply to say: "My dear Lord Krishna, please accept this food," and sing the following prayer three times each, ringing a bell:

Our respectful obeisances unto you, O spiritual master, servant of Sarasvati Gosvami. You are kindly preaching the message of Lord Chaitanyadeva and delivering the Western countries, which are filled with impersonalism and nihilism.
2. Prayer to Lord Chaitanya:
vadanyaya namo maha-krishna-prema-pradaya you
Krishnaya krishna-chaitanya-gaura-namne tvishe namah

3. Prayer to Lord Krishna:
namo brahmanya Devaya ca-go-brahmana-hitaya
jagad-hitaya govindaya Krishnaya namo namah
My Lord, You are the well-wisher of cows and brahmanas, are the well-wisher of the entire human society and world.
Remember that the real purpose of all this is to show their devotion and gratitude to the Lord. The very food you are offering is secondary. Krishna accepts the devotional feeling. God is complete in Himself. He needs nothing. Our offering is just one way of showing our love and gratitude to Him After the offering, the person should sing for a few minutes the Hare Krishna mantra (or at least 3 times.):
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.
So, can serve prasadam. Try to appreciate the spiritual quality of prasadam remembering that, by Krishna have it accepted, it is not different from Krishna and eat it purifies the person.
All that is offered at your altar becomes prasadam, the mercy of the Lord. Remains of flowers, incense, food and water - all that is offered to the Lord's pleasure becomes spiritualized. The Lord enters the offerings, and the remains of this offering is the Lord himself directly. So you should not only deeply respect the things you offered Him, but must distribute them to others. This distribution of prasadam, the mercy of the Lord, is an essential part of Deity worship.
The four regulative principles
Any candidate seriously interested in making progress in any form of yoga discipline should strive to avoid the following four materials activities:
1. Consumption of meat, fish and eggs. As explained above, these are the foods in the quality of ignorance and can not be offered to the Lord.
2. Gambling. They invariably leave the anxious person and feed envy, greed and anger.
3. Use of intoxicants. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco, as well as any food or drink that contains caffeine. Use these substances without obscuring the mind, which is already clouded by all sorts of materials concepts to life.
4. Illicit sex. Illicit sex means sex outside of marriage or marriage without sex in order to conceive a child to be educated to become aware of God. The Vedas say that parents are responsible for the karmic reactions of their children. In other words, if your child incurs bad karma, even if you should suffer a part of karma. Children should be taught to love God by obeying the laws of God and avoiding sinful behavior.
Occupation in practical devotional service
Everyone should work for the simple maintenance of the body, but if the work is done just for the satisfaction of the person, it must accept the good and bad reactions this work. In the Bhagavad-gita, Lord Krishna says that work must be performed to the satisfaction of the Lord: "You must perform work in sacrifice to Vishnu (God), otherwise work binds us to this material world." (Bg. 3.9)
It is not necessary to change professions. A person can be a writer and write for Krishna, an artist and paint for Krishna, a cook and cooking for Krishna. Also a person can help the temple directly in your spare time, and besides, she can sacrifice the fruits of their labor contributing a portion of their earnings to help spread the Krishna consciousness movement all over the world. Additional devotional principles
1. Study the literature of Krishna consciousness. The founder-acharya of ISKCON, Srila Prabhupada, has devoted most of his time writing books, because they are told to listen to the scriptures of an accomplished spiritual master is one of the most important spiritual practices. Try to set aside some time every day to read the books of Srila Prabhupada.
2. Join with devotees. The Hare Krishna movement was established to give people in general the opportunity to associate with devotees of the Lord. These items are just a basic outline of how to practice Krishna consciousness in their own home. The beauty of Krishna consciousness is that you can accept as much as be prepared for it. Nobody will compel you to follow anything. Yourself is what decides how much will practice what we recommend here. Krishna Himself promises in the Bhagavad-gita: "There is no loss or diminution in this endeavor, and even a little progress on this path protects one from the greatest type of fear."
